It Is Good To Draw Near To God

For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Bible Text: Psalm 73:27-28

God is the centre of our life. For in him we live and move and have our being. The unrighteous allure of the world and its things sometime leads to our inadvertent drift away from God. The further we drift away the more we come under the influence of the enemy. Make no mistake; those who are far from God in their heart and ways shall perish. It is like the young cub that strays away from the watchful eyes and security of its mother. Except it returns, and that quickly it may find itself in peril of falling prey to the beasts of the wild.

Drawing near, is not a legalistic attempt to obey the law and commandment, but a simple and consistent trusting in God. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God (Heb 7:19 ). Jesus is that better hope, and he said, “If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me”. It is through Jesus that we have the grace to draw near to God. As the scripture says in Heb 10:22 “let us drawnear to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water”.

This is a good and beneficial practice for all.

Be encouraged, Jesus loves you!
